Merrill Launches Patriotic Decorating Contest to Celebrate America’s 250th

The City of Merrill is inviting residents and businesses to show off their patriotic spirit with a community-wide decorating contest celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Participants are encouraged to decorate their homes, yards or storefronts in red, white and blue, with prizes awarded in several categories, including a Neighborhood Spirit Award for blocks or neighborhoods that decorate together.

A self-guided driving tour will highlight participating properties, and photos will be posted on Facebook where the public can vote for their favorites. Anyone interested in taking part must register by Friday, August 21. Decorations should be in place by August 28, with voting running through September 5. Winners will be announced during the Labor Day Car Show at the Merrill Fairgrounds on September 7.
